Ateneu L’Harmonia supports community empowerment by giving residents and local organizations real responsibility in managing the facility. Through open working committees, thematic groups, and assemblies, members actively shape activities, governance, and priorities, strengthening collective agency and ownership. Co-design is applied as participants directly plan and implement programs, services, and spaces, with committees like Programming and Workshops ensuring initiatives reflect community needs. Deliberative dialogue underpins decision-making, particularly in the Management Committee, where committees, working groups, staff, and the managing entity discuss, negotiate, and reach consensus, ensuring transparency, inclusivity, and integration of diverse perspectives into governance and programming.
The values that mainly define L’Harmonia are: horizontality, participation, proximity, involvement, sustainability, assemblyism and inclusion. These values promote the bond and return power to individuals and groups. Thus, a cohesive and co-responsible community is articulated, which develops critical thinking, weaves ways of doing and being that challenge the logics of isolation and power structures.
